Gua Sha Facial Fusion & Thai Herbal Poultice
I have taken in-person training in Gua Sha Facial Fusion with US Educator Cecily Braden. Gua Sha Facial Fusion blends Gua Sha theory and uni-directional movements (upwards and outwards), with Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD), connective tissue and muscle tension release finishing with Thai Wei Facial Massage.
The treatment is an integrative approach to holistic skincare. Whilst Facial Gua Sha, connective tissue/muscle release and facial massage are cornerstones of the method, very specific lymphatic drainage techniques are also a core element of Gua Sha Facial Fusion, differing from TCM Facial Gua Sha which is often incorrectly cited as focusing on lymphatic drainage.
Gua Sha Facial Fusion begins with Ytsara Thai Herbal Poultice facial massage, a poultice of healing organic herbs, to warm the muscles and skin and begin the process of circulation stimulation, tissue softening and detoxification in preparation for Facial Gua Sha and facial massage.
It is a very effective treatment improving skin health, creating natural rejuvenation and deep relaxation. Gua Sha Facial Fusion is a culmination of Cecily Braden’s many years of experience working in the spa and wellness industry, her deep knowledge of facial massage and integrative holistic skincare, expertise in Thai Herbal Poultice and training in Gua Sha with Dr. Ping Zhang.
High quality, specifically designed Dark Green Nephrite and Rose Quartz professional Gua Sha, are used in treatments supporting different techniques at a variety of pressure depths to deliver visible benefits. Additional facial massage tools such as smooth, spiked Qi and swirled rollers, sculpting spoons, hot facial massage/cleansing mushrooms and Jade combs are also included to create a bespoke experience, dependent on clients skincare concerns and tension levels.
There is no set routine for treatment. Gua Sha and facial massage tools are selected to maximise benefits and used intuitively throughout the session. Clients can continue their Gua Sha Facial Fusion routine with home care tools available in my shop, book in-person or online self-care classes and access further support with video guidance and posts on Instagram.
As Within So Without
In my role as an experienced Women’s Wellbeing Reflexologist (MAR) I have undertaken training to work with the fundamentals of TCM and 5 Element theory. I am not an acupuncturist. I have a foundational level of knowledge that allows me to bring an additional layer of observation to clients holistic health.
I work with the classical Reflexology you may have experienced already (Ingham Method), but also integrate other therapies such as Dien Chan Zone Facial Reflexology, Acupressure, Facial Acupressure, Moxa, Aromareflex and Hot Stone and Gemstone Reflexology where beneficial.
As the body, skin, mind and spirit are intrinsically linked, it may become apparent through your Gua Sha Facial Fusion consultation and treatment that you could be further supported with additional whole body therapies. We can work with Five Element Reflexology and Dien Chan Zone Facial Reflexology to achieve a greater sense of wellbeing, but I will often also suggest the services of acupuncture colleagues and/or TCM herbalists.
Minimalistic Skincare
I have a very simple and minimalistic approach to skincare and in treatments use high quality natural balm and oil cleansers, exfoliators where required and nourishing skincare from Aypa, Neal’s Yard Remedies, The Organic Pharmacy, Evolve Beauty, Aromantic and Akasha Blends judiciously. For clients with complex, chronic skin issues I can refer you to select, trusted advanced facialists for further advice on your routine.
If you have acne or rosacea know that Facial Gua Sha is still for you: treatment is adapted and self-care is an important part of the process. In addition, I highly recommend a whole body approach which might include medical support (Western/Eastern or a combination of both) diet and nutrition advice and lifestyle assessment.
